The top upcoming games in 2027, from The Witcher 4 to Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with the latest release dates and platforms.

The next twelve months of gaming look stacked, and the list of upcoming games in 2027 already reads like a dream lineup. Several studios pushed their biggest hitters past 2026 to give them room to breathe. So 2027 now holds new entries from CD Projekt Red, Square Enix, Capcom, Naughty Dog, and more. Some carry firm dates, while others hold looser windows that could still shift. We checked the latest announcements from Summer Game Fest 2026 and after to sort the real from the rumored. Here are the ten we cannot wait to play, roughly in order of the buzz they are building.

1. The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red hands the reins to Ciri this time, and the team is building the whole game in Unreal Engine 5. The studio has confirmed a fresh region called Kovir, plus the open-world scale the series is famous for. CDPR has also said the game will not arrive before the end of 2026, which points to 2027 at the earliest. It could even slip into 2028, so treat the window with care. Even so, few games carry this much weight. The Witcher 3 set a high bar, and fans expect the follow-up to clear it.

2. Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Square Enix closes out its Remake trilogy here, and the stakes could not be higher. Revelation picks up after Rebirth and drives toward the story’s emotional finish. Square Enix revealed the subtitle at Summer Game Fest in June 2026 and set a Spring 2027 window. For the first time in the trilogy, it also breaks free of PlayStation. The game is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on day one. That reach alone makes it one of the year’s most important releases.

3. Fable

Playground Games finally brings its Fable reboot to the finish line. Xbox moved the game from late 2026 to February 23, 2027, so it could stand clear of Grand Theft Auto VI. The reboot promises a fresh, funny take on the beloved fantasy world with the studio’s open-world polish. It lands on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Game Pass on day one. In a first for the series, Fable also comes to PS5. That choice opens the door to a far larger audience than any past Fable game reached.

4. Resident Evil Veronica

Capcom keeps its remake streak alive with a rebuild of Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Announced at Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026, it runs on the RE Engine and uses the over-the-shoulder style fans loved in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Capcom has pointed to a 2027 window rather than a firm date so far. The 2000 original followed Claire Redfield across a prison island and an Antarctic base. You can see how the series stacks up in our Resident Evil ranking. It arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Switch 2.

5. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog steps away from The Last of Us with its first brand new world in years. Intergalactic follows a stranded bounty hunter in a strange, lived-in science fiction setting. Naughty Dog has not locked an official date, though reports point to a mid-2027 target. The studio has confirmed it will not arrive in 2026, so patience is the theme here. As a PS5 exclusive, it also works as a showcase for Sony’s first-party talent. After the studio’s recent track record, curiosity around this one runs very high.

6. Tomb Raider: Catalyst

Lara Croft returns in an all-new adventure from Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games. Catalyst sends Lara to Northern India for what the team calls the largest Tomb Raider to date. The studio is building it in Unreal Engine 5 with a more connected, exploration-heavy world. A 2027 window looks likely, though the team has not locked an exact date. Amazon is also remaking the 1996 original as Legacy of Atlantis around the same time. Between the two, Tomb Raider fans have plenty to look forward to next year.

7. Stranger Than Heaven

The team behind the Yakuza series returns with a bold new idea. Stranger Than Heaven sweeps across Japanese history in a decades-spanning crime saga. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio blends its trademark drama with fresh combat and even music production. Sega has set a firm date of January 15, 2027, so it kicks the year off early. It launches on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, with Game Pass on day one. Fans of story-driven action should keep a close eye on this one.

8. Persona 4 Revival

Atlus rebuilds one of its most loved role-playing games from the ground up. Persona 4 Revival modernizes the 2008 classic with new visuals and quality-of-life upgrades. Atlus has slated February 18, 2027, so it shares a busy month with Fable. The murder-mystery story and cozy small-town setting made the original a cult hit. This time it reaches far more players. Revival launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, rather than staying tied to older hardware. Longtime fans and newcomers alike have reason to smile.

9. State of Decay 3

Undead Labs finally showed real gameplay for its long-awaited zombie survival sequel. State of Decay 3 expands the open-world, base-building formula that built such a devoted community. The studio shared first gameplay in June 2026 and pointed to a 2027 launch. An exact date is still missing, though, so treat the window as a target rather than a promise. It spans PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X and S. After years of near silence, fans of tense survival games feel more than ready for it.

10. The Wolf Among Us 2

Telltale returns to its noir roots with the long-delayed sequel to a fan favorite. The Wolf Among Us 2 brings back Bigby Wolf for another dark case in Fabletown. Telltale gave it a 2027 window at Summer Game Fest 2026, yet the studio refuses to lock a date until it feels ready. A remaster of the first game arrives late in 2026 to set the stage. It is planned for PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. After a rocky development, fans simply want to see Bigby back in action.

Other upcoming games in 2027 worth watching

Plenty more sits on the 2027 calendar. Metro 2039 continues the post-apocalyptic shooter series, while Spyro: A Realm Beyond aims to revive the purple dragon in spring. Pathologic 3 also has its devoted fans. Keep in mind that a few giants which feel like 2027 games actually land in 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026, and Marvel’s Wolverine follows on September 15, 2026. Their PC ports, though, could well spill into 2027. Either way, the next year of gaming looks packed.
