The Planet Crafter arrives on PS5 and Xbox on July 21, 2026, free on Game Pass day one, alongside a big free 2.0 update. Here is what to know.

A word-of-mouth survival hit is about to reach a far wider audience. The Planet Crafter, the terraforming sim from tiny French studio Miju Games, comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox on July 21, 2026. Better yet, it lands free on Xbox Game Pass the same day. So console players finally get a game PC fans have loved for years, and it arrives with a big free update in tow.

The Planet Crafter brings a dead world to life

The Planet Crafter is an open-world survival and crafting game about reviving a lifeless planet. Miju Games self-published it, and it left PC early access back in April 2024. On consoles it costs $23.99, matching the Steam price, and you can play solo or in online co-op. If you would rather start on PC, you can find the original on Steam.

The core idea is unusual and calming. Instead of simply surviving, you slowly terraform a hostile world into a living one. You begin alone with only the basics, so first you mine resources, craft tools, and build machines that pump out heat, oxygen, and pressure. As those levels climb, the whole world shifts. Frozen rock gives way to water, then breathable air, then plants, insects, and finally animals. Because your progress is written across the landscape itself, every step feels earned.

A proven hit, now on Game Pass

Of course, this is a known quantity, not a gamble. On Steam, The Planet Crafter sits at Overwhelmingly Positive across tens of thousands of reviews, and critics landed it around 81 on aggregate. So console players get years of polish and free updates in a single download.

The look is clean and colorful, and the transformation is the real spectacle. Dusty wastelands turn into oceans and greenery as the terraformation meter climbs. On top of that, a free 2.0 update lands around the console launch, adding a new biome, a visual overhaul, and a third-person camera so you can finally see your astronaut in the world you rebuilt. Meanwhile, the tone stays relaxed, with the focus on creation over combat. If you like survival games with a strong build-and-grow hook, read our comparison of Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved.
