A new Splatoon Raiders update fixes a small problem that caused a surprising amount of confusion at launch.
Version 1.1.1 lets players release a Tank Limiter with a normal press of the A button. Before the update, players had to hold A until a ring filled up. It is another early Nintendo Switch 2 update after Minecraft’s release on the console.
That input was easy to miss. Nintendo Support received questions from players who thought they could not release their Tank Limiters at all.
The limiter controls how many Skill Points players can put into an upgrade at first. It opens as they progress, so releasing it is an important part of improving a Tank.
Nintendo explained the old input shortly after launch. Two weeks later, the company has made the action simpler instead.
Why the Splatoon Raiders update matters
This was not a broken feature. Players could release a limiter before version 1.1.1, but they needed to hold the button rather than press it once.
Still, a feature can work as intended and remain hard to understand. If enough players think something is broken, the design is not doing a good enough job of explaining itself.
Nintendo could have left the input alone and kept answering questions. Changing the input is the better fix because new players no longer need to know the old rule.
It also saves time. A Tank Limiter is not a rare menu option that players will use once. It is part of how players keep improving their build as the game goes on.
The patch notes list several other fixes. The Showstopper Gauge should now hide properly after a period without button presses in the Hideout Ship and dungeons.
Nintendo also fixed Emergency Damage Up not affecting the extra explosion damage from the Splatchet’s Explosive Steps. Another Splatchet issue could leave a player unable to move after using the weapon right after a wall Squid Roll.
At Soyu Cliffs, a Fish Stick should no longer move into the terrain and become impossible to defeat. The Exploration Bot in the HOPPING arcade game should also stop refusing to attack Salmonids.
This is a fixes update, not new content
Version 1.1.1 does not add new raids, weapons or a big balance pass. Nintendo’s notes focus on bugs and smaller changes that make the game easier to play.
The update also fixes a crash that could happen when players touched the Switch 2 screen during the fog sequence after launching the game.
Nintendo says it made other adjustments to improve the overall experience, but it has not listed every one of them.
That makes this a normal early patch. It addresses the problems players found during the first weeks without changing the larger shape of the game.
Splatoon Raiders launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23. It moves the series away from its usual competitive matches and into a treasure-hunting adventure with Deep Cut, Tanks and Salmonids.
The Tank Limiter change is still the part many players will notice first. Nintendo had to explain why pressing A did not work, and now pressing A works exactly as players expected.
