Silent Hill 2 Update 1.07 Finally Fixes PS5 Pro Visuals, but Players Spot Another Problem

Silent Hill 2 update 1.07 is now available on PS5 and PS5 Pro. It brings long-awaited image quality and performance fixes to the remake.

The patch is about 6GB. It also fixes performance issues in both graphics modes, along with shadow flickering, ghosting and other visual problems.

That matters because the remake had visual problems on PS5 Pro. Players had reported shimmering and other distracting effects after the game launched. Early reports say the new patch makes the image much cleaner.

Konami has confirmed the changes in its official patch notes. The studio also shared the news through the official Silent Hill account.

What the Silent Hill 2 update changes

On PS5 Pro, the patch improves image quality and addresses visual artifacts that previously caused shimmering.

Sony has also made changes to its PS5 Pro technology through a new console setting. Konami does not say which upscaling method each graphics mode now uses. That means it is too early to say whether the same PSSR changes apply to both modes.

Its fog, plants and detailed lighting can make visual problems easier to notice while the player is moving. That is why the cleaner image matters so much.

Players who have tried the patch say the image looks cleaner. Konami has not given a detailed list of every PS5 Pro change, so the results may still differ between the two graphics modes.

Silent Hill 2 Performance Mode may have a shadow problem

Some players are reporting darker shadows in Performance Mode after installing the patch. The reports do not appear to affect Quality Mode in the same way.

Quality Mode targets 30 frames per second. Performance Mode is for players who want smoother movement, so the shadow reports are worth watching.

It is too early to know how common the issue is. Konami has not confirmed it as a known problem or said if another fix is coming.

The patch is still an important step for PS5 Pro owners. It fixes some of the remake’s most noticeable visual problems, even if Performance Mode may need more work.
