PS5 Games September 2026 already make next month look huge for PlayStation players. Marvel’s Wolverine leads a packed lineup that also includes The Blood of Dawnwalker, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Dune: Awakening, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The best part is that the list is still not complete. Sony has not revealed the September PlayStation Plus Monthly Games yet, while PS Plus Extra and Premium already have one major day-one game confirmed for the month.
September Starts With The Blood of Dawnwalker
PS5 players will not have to wait long for the first big release. The Blood of Dawnwalker arrives on September 3 and brings a new dark fantasy RPG from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by developers who previously worked on games including The Witcher 3.
Players control Coen, who lives as a human during the day and a vampire at night. The game changes what players can do depending on the time of day, and choices can also shape how the story moves forward. That alone would give RPG fans something big to play in September, but the month gets much busier less than two weeks later.
Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, and this may easily become the biggest PS5 release of the month. Insomniac built the game only for PS5 and PS5 Pro, with Logan traveling through places including Canada, Tokyo and Madripoor.
Unlike Marvel’s Spider-Man, Wolverine does not use an open world. Insomniac has built it as a single-player story-driven action game, with much more focus on brutal close combat and Logan’s claws.
September 15 also brings RuneScape: Dragonwilds to PS5. The open-world survival game lets players explore Ashenfall alone or with friends while gathering resources, building bases and fighting dragons.
This release has an extra benefit for PlayStation Plus subscribers. PS Plus Extra and Premium members will get RuneScape: Dragonwilds on the same day it launches, so they will not need to buy it separately.
RPG Fans Get Another Big Game Two Days Later
September 17 brings Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter to PS5. The RPG continues Estelle’s story as she searches for Joshua and tries to uncover what the secret group Ouroboros plans to do next.
The quick release also makes this one interesting for Trails fans. The first chapter only recently brought the classic story to modern systems, and players will not have to wait years to continue it.
Then September 22 brings Dune: Awakening to PS5. Console players will finally get Funcom’s open-world survival game on Arrakis, along with the updates that arrived after the original PC release.
The PS5 version also launches alongside a new single-player mode. That gives players another way to explore Arrakis if they do not want to spend most of their time with other players. Two days later, September becomes even more crowded.
Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall both launch on September 24. Remedy’s Control sequel puts Dylan Faden in the main role and moves the series toward an action RPG style, while Silent Hill: Townfall takes players to a much darker first-person horror story set on a Scottish island.
That gives September 24 two very different choices. Players can jump into Remedy’s strange version of Manhattan or spend the night trying to survive another Silent Hill nightmare.
September Still Has More Games and PS Plus to Come
Capcom joins the rush on September 25 with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The new game brings the series back with Miyamoto Musashi as its main character and puts a heavy focus on sword fights, parries and battles against the Genma.
September then closes with another recognizable name. Minecraft Dungeons II launches on September 29 for PS5 and continues Mojang’s action RPG spin-off with new areas, enemies, gear and another adventure built around dungeon crawling.
That already gives PS5 owners a busy month from start to finish. There are major RPGs, horror games, survival games, a big PlayStation exclusive and several returning series all arriving within a few weeks. And Sony still has another announcement to make.
The company has not revealed its September PlayStation Plus Monthly Games yet. August subscribers currently have Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk and Signalis, but that lineup runs until the end of August. We still do not know which games Sony will offer to Essential subscribers in September, so there is no reason to treat any predictions online as confirmed games.
What we do know is that PS Plus Extra and Premium already have RuneScape: Dragonwilds coming on September 15. Sony will also reveal more games for the September Game Catalog later in the month. That makes September look strong before Sony has even finished filling out its PS Plus lineup.
Marvel’s Wolverine will probably take most of the attention, but PS5 players will have plenty to choose from around it. The Blood of Dawnwalker starts the month, Trails follows Wolverine, and the final week packs Dune: Awakening, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Onimusha and Minecraft Dungeons II close together. If Sony adds a strong set of PS Plus Monthly Games on top of all that, September could become one of the busiest PS5 months of 2026.
