The PS5 Games Coming in August are about to make the second half of the month very busy.
Things will get serious on August 18 with The Sinking City 2, followed by Mortal Shell 2 on August 20.
Then August 27 brings Star Wars Zero Company, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and Lou’s Lagoon all on the same day.
That is already a lot for one week.
But August 27 will be even busier because Rockstar is also showing GTA 6: An Extended Look on Netflix that day.
GTA 6 is not releasing yet, but it could easily become the biggest gaming story of the day.
PS5 Has a Very Busy End to August
The Sinking City 2 arrives on August 18.
The sequel is moving further into survival horror, with more focus on combat and exploration than the first game.
Mortal Shell 2 follows on August 20.
The original became popular with Soulslike fans, and the sequel is trying to go bigger with a larger world and more combat options.
August 27 is where the schedule really gets packed.
Star Wars Zero Company brings turn-based tactical combat to the Star Wars universe.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy also arrives that day, with Sophia taking the main role.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 gives fans another group of classic Metal Gear games to play on modern hardware.
Lou’s Lagoon also launches on PS5, offering a much calmer game built around flying, crafting, and exploring islands.
There is a good mix here, and most of these games are aimed at very different players.
GTA 6 Could Still Steal Most of the Attention
The problem for those August 27 releases is GTA 6.
Rockstar will show GTA 6: An Extended Look on Netflix the same day.
Fans are still waiting to see more of Jason, Lucia, Vice City, driving, combat, and the wider world.
If Rockstar shows a long section of gameplay, it will probably take over gaming social media within minutes.
That does not mean people will stop buying the other games.
GTA 6 is still not launching until November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
But attention matters, especially on release day.
Star Wars Zero Company, A Plague Tale Legacy, and Metal Gear Solid would normally have plenty of space to make headlines.
On August 27, they will have to share that space with the biggest upcoming game in the industry.
For PS5 players, the final weeks of August are looking very good.
The only problem may be finding enough time to play everything.
