Netflix says the excitement around GTA 6 has reached an unprecedented level. The comment came before Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look, which will appear on Netflix before it reaches YouTube.
Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series Brandon Riegg said the company is honoured that Rockstar chose the service for the first showing. It is a rare way to reveal new material for a video game.
The Extended Look premieres for Netflix members on August 27 at 3pm ET. Rockstar will then release it on YouTube and the official GTA 6 site at 9pm ET, six hours later.
Rockstar has confirmed the date and the Netflix premiere. It has not called the video Trailer 3, so players should treat it as a separate new look at the game.
That detail matters. Fans have been waiting for more information for a long time, and Rockstar’s name for the video is the clearest guide to what is actually coming.
Netflix sees GTA 6 as a much bigger event
Netflix works with major films and television series every week. That makes Riegg’s comment stand out. The company is not simply adding a trailer to its service. It is getting the first chance to show a major Rockstar update.
Most game trailers appear on YouTube first. They may also show up during a PlayStation event, an Xbox show or a big summer presentation.
This release works differently. Netflix members get the Extended Look first, while everyone else waits for Rockstar’s own channels. It is a small gap, but it turns a normal upload into a scheduled entertainment event.
That does not mean GTA 6 will be on Netflix as a game. The service is only hosting the video first. Rockstar is still releasing the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Take-Two says GTA 6 will launch on November 19, 2026. The publisher has also confirmed that the game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC release date announced.

Rockstar still has plenty to reveal
Rockstar has not shared much of GTA 6 compared with the attention around it. The game has had two major trailers, and each one has led to weeks of close inspection from fans.
That is why the Extended Look matters. It could explain more about the world, Jason and Lucia, or how the game plays. Rockstar has not said exactly what the video will include.
It is better not to guess beyond that. A longer video does not automatically mean a gameplay walkthrough, a release update or a new trailer. Rockstar’s own wording is all players have for now.
Vice City is also back at the centre of the game. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 takes players to the state of Leonida, including Vice City and the area around it.
That setting gives the new video plenty to show without needing to reveal the whole game. Rockstar can show more of the world while keeping its biggest story moments hidden.
Netflix’s statement is the unusual part of this announcement. It shows how far GTA 6 has moved beyond a normal game reveal, even before players know what the Extended Look contains.
For now, the confirmed plan is simple. Netflix members can watch first on August 27, then Rockstar will make the video available to everyone else six hours later. The timing gives people a clear date and a clear place to watch.
