Hot Wheels Infinite Rush turns a childhood toy box into an open-world racer, and Switch 2 owners get it on day one. Mattel and Milestone showed the game at Summer Game Fest 2026. The pitch is easy to grasp. This is toy-scale racing where the whole map becomes your track. Instead of fixed loops, you roam themed islands and build routes as you go. It launches worldwide on September 10, 2026, for $49.99, after moving up from an earlier September 24 date.
The idea of no set path drives the whole game. Rather than pushing you between checkpoints, Milestone lets each area open up. The debut trailer showed tiny cars racing across beaches, city streets, and jungle, with a toy King Kong perched on a skyscraper. You explore four islands, each with its own look and set of challenges. The goal is to clear events and earn the title of Rush Master.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush Takes a New Route

If the setup sounds familiar, there is a reason. Milestone already made the two Hot Wheels Unleashed games. Those focused on tight arcade circuits and orange plastic tracks. This project changes direction. The closest comparison is Forza Horizon, but scaled down for family racing. Mattel also runs an official Hot Wheels hub for the brand.
That shift gives the game a clear lane. Big open-world racers rarely come with a toy theme aimed at younger players. A roster of more than 150 vehicles backs up the pitch, with four car types to drive and upgrade. You can collect cars, assemble a Rush Squad, and build your own tracks. Milestone wants each car to feel personal.
Why This Switch 2 Release Matters

For Switch 2 players, this release sends a clear signal. Nintendo’s new console keeps drawing bigger multiplatform games, not just lighter ports or late arrivals. An open-world racer with busy environments fits that trend. The first Switch would have struggled with this scale.
The game also lands the same week as several other releases, so it enters a crowded September. No Metacritic or OpenCritic scores exist for it yet, so wait for full reviews before judging how it handles.

Is this the same as Hot Wheels Unleashed?
No. Unleashed was a track-based arcade racer. Infinite Rush uses an open world instead. You roam freely and treat the environment as your circuit.
What does becoming the Rush Master mean?
It is the main goal. You clear events and challenges across the four islands to earn the title, so there is plenty for solo players to chase.
