The GTA 6 Take-Two Stock Drop has arrived at a very bad time for Rockstar’s parent company. Take-Two has lost billions in market value while new GTA 6 footage continues to spread online, raising questions about whether the growing leak situation has made investors nervous.
There is no proof that the leaks caused the entire drop. Stocks move for many reasons, and Take-Two has not blamed the fall on GTA 6. Still, the timing is hard to ignore when GTA 6 is easily the most important game in the company’s upcoming lineup. That makes every new leak more than just a problem for Rockstar.
Take-Two Has a Lot Riding on GTA 6
GTA 6 is expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches of the year. Take-Two has already talked about huge demand for the game, and early preorder reports suggest fans are spending heavily before launch.
That is why investors watch GTA 6 so closely. Any concern around the game can quickly become a concern around Take-Two itself. A delay, security problem or major leak can create uncertainty, even if the game is still on track.
The latest leak wave has been especially messy. Footage has appeared showing Jason playing basketball, driving, fighting, swimming and interacting with police. Other clips appear to reveal new HUD elements, a possible six-star wanted level and deeper police systems. None of that means the final game is in trouble. The problem is that Rockstar is losing control of what people see.
The Leaks Are Starting to Reveal Bigger Systems
The first videos mostly showed small gameplay moments. Now the leaks appear to be revealing how some of GTA 6’s larger systems could work.
One clip suggests police may remember Jason’s face, clothes and vehicle. If that system survives into the final game, losing the police could take more work than simply hiding until the wanted stars disappear. Other footage appears to show a possible six-star wanted level, something GTA 5 did not use.
There are also signs of deeper vehicle storage, combat changes and more ways to interact with the world. These are exactly the kind of details Rockstar would normally want to explain on its own terms.
Instead, fans are now studying unfinished clips and trying to work out how everything works. That creates confusion too. Some of the footage may come from an older build, which means parts of it could already be outdated.
A Playable Build Would Be a Much Bigger Problem
The biggest concern is that the person behind the leaks may have more than a folder of old videos. Some recent posts have made fans wonder whether the leaker has access to a playable build.
That has not been confirmed. But if someone can actually control the game and record new footage whenever they want, the situation becomes much more serious. A fixed set of stolen videos can only reveal so much.
A playable build could allow someone to explore different parts of Leonida, test systems and record completely new material. That would also explain why the leaks keep covering different parts of the game. One day it is basketball. Then it is police. Then it is driving, combat or the map. The leaker has even appeared to run a poll asking people what they want to see next. That makes it look like the leak may still have a long way to go.
Take-Two’s Stock Drop Does Not Mean GTA 6 Is Failing
It is important not to overreact to the stock movement. Take-Two shares falling does not mean investors suddenly think GTA 6 will fail. There is no sign that Rockstar has delayed the game again, and GTA 6 is still scheduled to release on November 19.
The game also appears to have enormous demand. If anything, the reaction to every leak shows how much attention GTA 6 already has. Fans are analysing tiny details from unfinished footage because they want to know everything about the game before launch.
That level of interest is still very good news for Take-Two. The problem is uncertainty. Investors like clear plans, stable release dates and controlled marketing. A leak situation that keeps growing can make all of that harder.
Rockstar’s August 27 Reveal Just Became Even More Important
Rockstar will show GTA 6: An Extended Look on August 27, and that presentation now matters more than it did a few weeks ago. The company finally has a chance to show newer footage and explain the game properly.
That could help clear up a lot of the confusion created by the leaks. Fans may finally learn how driving works, how police react to crimes and how much of the leaked material is still part of the final game.
The presentation could also remind people why GTA 6 has so much excitement around it in the first place. For Take-Two, that would be useful too. A strong official showing could move the conversation away from stolen footage and back toward the actual game.
That does not mean the stock will instantly recover. But it would give Rockstar and Take-Two something they badly need right now: control of the story again. GTA 6 still looks set to be a huge launch. The bigger question is whether Rockstar can get through the next few weeks without another major leak stealing the spotlight. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
