The new GTA 6 Combat System could give Jason and Lucia far more control over how they handle dangerous situations. Rockstar’s Extended Look shows that players can target different parts of an enemy’s body, disarm people and potentially end some fights without killing everyone in sight.
At the same time, fans studying the new Vice City footage noticed something completely different. One waterfront building looks surprisingly similar to the Miami apartment complex used as Dexter Morgan’s home in the TV series Dexter. One detail could change how GTA 6 plays. The other shows just how closely fans are already searching Rockstar’s new world.
GTA 6 Gives Players More Choice During Gunfights
Grand Theft Auto has never been a series known for avoiding violence, but GTA 6 appears ready to give players more options once bullets start flying. The Extended Look shows Jason targeting specific parts of enemies during combat. Instead of always aiming for the head or chest, players can hit arms and legs to take someone out of the fight without immediately killing them. Players can also shoot weapons directly from an enemy’s hands.
That sounds like a small change, but it could make gunfights much more interesting. An enemy who loses a gun is no longer the same threat, giving players the choice to escape instead of finishing them off. It also means accurate shooting can have a purpose beyond dealing extra damage.
This Does Not Confirm a Full Pacifist Run
The new system has already started conversations about whether GTA 6 could support a non-lethal playthrough. That would be a huge change for Grand Theft Auto, but players should not go that far yet.
Rockstar has not said that Jason and Lucia can finish the entire story without killing anyone. Some missions may still force players into lethal situations because of the story. The important change is that not every enemy may need to die.
During robberies or random fights, players could potentially shoot someone in the leg, knock a weapon away and leave instead of turning every crime into a massacre. That gives GTA 6 a little more player choice. Two people could enter the same robbery and leave behind very different scenes depending on how they decide to handle it.
It Could Work Perfectly With GTA 6’s Smarter Police
Non-lethal combat becomes even more interesting when combined with the other systems Rockstar recently showed. Police can gather information about suspects, including their appearance and vehicles. Witnesses, cameras and alarms can also make crimes more complicated.
That means simply killing everyone may not always feel like the smartest option. Disarming someone and escaping quickly could sometimes make more sense than staying behind for a longer shootout that brings even more police.
Rockstar appears to be making players think more about how they commit crimes instead of treating every situation as an excuse to fire hundreds of bullets. GTA will obviously still let players cause chaos. It just looks like chaos is no longer the only answer.
Fans Think Rockstar Hid Dexter’s Apartment in Vice City
While some players focused on the combat, others were looking at the buildings. During a parachuting scene in the Extended Look, viewers noticed a waterfront apartment complex that looks very similar to the real building used as Dexter Morgan’s apartment in Dexter.
The comparison makes sense immediately. Dexter takes place in Miami, while Vice City is Rockstar’s fictional version of the same city. The apartment building used for the show sits near the water and has several visual similarities to the location shown in GTA 6.

Fans quickly began comparing images from both. Rockstar, however, has not confirmed that the building is actually meant to reference Dexter.
It Could Simply Be Rockstar Recreating Miami
There is another explanation. Rockstar has spent years studying Florida while creating Leonida, and GTA 6 recreates many parts of Miami’s look without copying them exactly.
The building associated with Dexter is a real Miami-area property. Rockstar could have used similar architecture simply because it fits the part of Florida the studio wanted to recreate. Still, a deliberate reference would hardly be surprising.
Grand Theft Auto games have always been packed with jokes and references to movies, television, celebrities and real places. A Miami-inspired game hiding a small nod to one of Miami television’s most famous characters would fit Rockstar perfectly. The only thing missing right now is confirmation.
Vice City Is Going to Be Full of Things Players Miss
The possible Dexter reference says something bigger about GTA 6. The game is not even out yet, and fans are already stopping individual frames and comparing buildings with real locations.
Imagine what happens when millions of players can explore Leonida themselves. People will search apartments, beaches, swamps, stores and back roads looking for references Rockstar never mentioned before launch.
At the same time, details such as disarming enemies show that some of the biggest discoveries may not be Easter eggs at all. They may be small gameplay systems hidden inside ordinary moments. That is why this Extended Look keeps producing new stories days after it aired.
Rockstar did not simply show better graphics and a larger map. It showed a world where shooting someone in the arm can change a fight, while one ordinary apartment building can send an entirely different group of fans down a rabbit hole. And GTA 6 players have barely started looking.
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
