The EWC 2026 Dota 2 group stage is over, and the playoff picture is finally clear. Four teams have gone straight through to the bracket in Paris. Meanwhile, twelve more are still scrapping for the last four places. So the next few days decide who gets to play for the $2 million prize.
Four teams cruise into the EWC 2026 Dota 2 playoffs
Team Falcons, Nigma Galaxy, PARIVISION and Team Yandex each topped their group. Remarkably, all four finished with a 9-1 record in games. That is about as dominant as a group stage gets.
The rest were not so lucky. Eight teams have already crashed out, including OG. Twelve more fell into the Survival Stage, which runs on July 14 and 15 for the final four playoff spots. As of July 14, Virtus.pro have already fallen there, losing 2-1 to Rune Eaters. The playoffs then run from July 16 to 19 as a single-elimination bracket, and the grand final lands on July 19.
Falcons chase a title while sitting 13th in the club race
Here is the twist. Team Falcons are the two-time defending winners of the EWC Club Championship. Right now, though, they sit 13th on just 250 points.
Three clubs share the lead on 1,000 points each. They are 100 Thieves, Natus Vincere and UNLIMIT, and each has won exactly one title so far. 100 Thieves took Valorant, Natus Vincere won Fatal Fury through DarkAngel, and UNLIMIT claimed Apex Legends. Still, it is very early, because only three of the 25 events have finished. The club prize pot is worth $30 million, with $7 million going to the winning club, so a deep Dota 2 run would lift Falcons sharply up the table.
What else is happening in Paris
This is the first Esports World Cup to take place outside Saudi Arabia. It runs from July 2 to August 23 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. In total it carries more than $75 million in prizes, which makes it the largest pool in esports history. You can see the full event schedule on the official site.
