Konami and the Dead Cells team are crafting this fresh 2D action-exploration adventure, and it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC. Better still, it introduces a new heroine and a clever tarot-card twist.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Release Date and Platforms
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action-exploration Metroidvania. Konami is making it with Evil Empire, plus advisory help from the Dead Cells studio Motion Twin. The release date is October 15, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Meanwhile, Konami has also confirmed a Nintendo Switch version, though its date is still to come. The Standard Edition costs $29.99, and a Midnight Edition runs $39.99. For now, you can wishlist it on Steam.
The story

The game takes place in 1499, in a burning medieval Paris. Soon, monstrous creatures pour out of a castle that has appeared in the city. Trevor Belmont, the hero who once defeated Dracula, walks into the flames. This time, though, he brings his daughter, Rose Belmont. Rose is the new protagonist, and she wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip. As the story unfolds, a dark conspiracy beneath the city pulls her in.
Gameplay

At its core, this is fast, whip-based action and exploration. In practice, you swing across gaps and close on enemies like a trapeze artist. The standout new idea is the Arcana system. When you beat a boss, you seal it into one of Rose’s tarot cards. In turn, those cards grant spells and special moves. Bosses include series staples like Death, Medusa and Carmilla, plus newcomers like Joan of Arc. On top of that, seven weapon categories and Relics let you build your own style.
Graphics and presentation
The look is hand-crafted 2D with classic Gothic style. Konami describes vivid, refined visuals that build on that iconic mood. Because of the Dead Cells lineage, expect fluid, high-quality animation. Konami has not named an engine yet, so we will judge the final look at launch. Even so, early footage already nails the series’ dark atmosphere.
Why the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Release Date Matters
A brand-new mainline Castlevania is a genuine event, which is why the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse release date matters so much. Better yet, this one pairs Konami with the acclaimed Dead Cells team. On top of that, a new heroine and the tarot-card Arcana system keep it fresh. Since it revives a beloved series, expectations are understandably high. If you love whip-action Metroidvanias, mark October 15 on your calendar. Look for it on PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. Similarly, the Metroid Ravenous leak brings more metroidvania news.
