Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is an over-the-top arcade football game with 150-plus super moves, out August 2026. Here is what is new.

Anime and football fans have a big one coming this summer. Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is an over-the-top arcade soccer game. It is the follow-up to the well-loved Rise of New Champions. It launches in late August 2026 on consoles and PC. Better still, it promises bigger teams, more characters and wilder special moves.

What is Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters?

Captain Tsubasa 2 is an arcade action-sports game, not a strict simulation. The developer is Tamsoft, and the publisher is Bandai Namco. It launches August 27, 2026 in Japan and August 28 worldwide. You can play it on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The Standard Edition costs $59.99, with Deluxe and Ultimate editions on top. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

The story

You follow the series hero, Tsubasa Ozora, on the road to the top. First, you battle through the Asian Youth Championship qualifiers. Rivals there include Thailand, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and China. After that, you advance to the World Youth Championship. There you face giants like Brazil, Argentina, Cameroon and the Netherlands. As a result, it plays out like the next chapter of the anime.

Gameplay

At its core, this is fast, flashy Super Action Soccer. You chain spectacular plays and unleash over-the-top special moves. In total, there are 110 playable characters and 22 national teams. On top of that, the game boasts more than 150 dramatic super moves. A new goalkeeper-versus-shooter system lets you counter those big shots. Beyond the story, you can battle friends locally or online. As a result, there is plenty here for both fans and newcomers.

Graphics and presentation

The visuals are cel-shaded and faithful to the anime. Every super move gets its own animated cutscene, and there are over 150. In fact, those flashy sequences are the visual centerpiece. No engine has been confirmed, so we will judge the polish at launch. Even so, it clearly captures the manga’s high-energy style.

Why Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is worth watching

The last game won real praise for its wild, cinematic football. This sequel promises to go bigger in almost every way. On top of that, 22 teams and 150-plus super moves is a huge jump. Since it lands in late August, it is not far off now. If you love anime or arcade sports, keep this on your list. Look for it on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
