Astra Sentinel space survival RTS lets you defend two fronts at once, coming to PC in 2026. Here is what to expect from this game.

Real-time strategy fans have a fresh reason to watch Steam. This Astra Sentinel space survival RTS has a clever twist. It asks you to defend two fronts at once, in orbit and on the ground. It is still in development, and it is targeting a 2026 release on PC. Better still, a free demo is already on Steam if you want an early taste.

What Is Astra Sentinel Space Survival RTS?

Astra Sentinel is a wave-based survival real-time strategy game with a story campaign. The studio behind it is Somnambulist Games, which is self-publishing the title. It is currently in development and targeting a 2026 launch. For now, it is confirmed for PC on Windows, with no console versions announced. The full price has not been revealed yet. Still, there is a free demo you can try right now on Steam.

The story

Humanity is on the brink after a devastating alien invasion. You take command of the fight to reclaim the galaxy. Your job is to retake infected solar systems from an endless alien horde. Alongside the open-ended survival mode, there is a handcrafted story campaign. It features its own characters and branching, difficult choices. As a result, every mission asks you to weigh what matters most.

Gameplay

At its core, this is a game about pressure and quick decisions. You build defenses like shields and turrets to hold the line. Meanwhile, you colonize new planets and manage resources to keep growing. The standout feature is how you fight on two fronts at once. You can switch between the planet surface and orbital space with no loading screens. On top of that, the survival mode scales across 26 difficulty levels. As you progress, you unlock new units and upgrade your existing forces. Every run is also procedurally varied, so no two feel the same.

Graphics and presentation

The game leans into a clean sci-fi look. A strategic, top-down camera spans both orbital and planet-surface views. The developer has not named an engine, so judge the visuals from the screenshots for now. Even so, the presentation clearly puts readability first. That makes sense for a strategy game where you juggle two battlefields.

Why This Astra Sentinel Space Survival RTS Stands Out

Space strategy games rarely try to do two things at once. Still, Astra Sentinel wants you to manage a space war and a ground war together. That single idea makes it stand out from the crowd. Since a free demo is already live, you can test the concept before you commit. If it clicks, this is an easy one to wishlist for 2026. You can follow it now on PC via Steam. Meanwhile, another big PC story is the Half-Life 3 delay rumor.
