Unarguably, Silent Hill Townfall is one of the best survival horror games worth playing in 2026. Many people favor this game because it offers a highly immersive atmosphere and tense stealth gameplay. Another highlight of the game is its unique settings. However, as interesting as this game is, you need to know that it also has its issues. According to many players, Silent Hill: Townfall is currently not launching after installation.
Here’s what happened
Screen Burn Interactive released Silent Hill: Townfall on 24, September 2026. Since its release, the game has drawn a lot of attention because of its unique settings and the features it offers. However, it also comes with some frustrating bugs. Many players said they’re unable to play the game because it keeps crashing during the launch process. After crashing, the system gives an error message that says: “Unreal Engine failure box”.
When describing the issue on Steam, a player said:
“The game crashes when trying to launch and pops up an Unreal Engine failure box. Any resolve?”
Under this post, several other PC players reported the same issue. A player said he tried a few troubleshooting steps, including updating his Windows 11 drivers and restarting. However, none of these steps worked.
Townfall not launching? Here’s a fix
At the time of writing this post, Screen Burn Interactive hasn’t yet acknowledged this bug that prevents players from launching the game. As such, we currently don’t have any official fix to address this ‘Townfall not launching’ issue.
However, a player mentioned that the issue comes from the Windows Media Feature Pack. The crashing issue affected the player for nearly 6 hours before he was able to fix it. He suggested that Windows 11 players should try installing the Media Feature Pack.
If you want to give it a try, below are a few steps for installing the Media Feature Pack:
- First, you need to understand that the Media Feature Pack is specifically designed for Windows N editions.
- On your Windows 11 N, select Windows
- Next, choose Settings and navigate to Apps > Optional features.
- Under Optional features, choose View features. This is pretty close to “Add an optional feature”.
- In the available list of optional features, look for and select the Media Feature Pack.
Once you’re done installing the Media Feature Pack, restart your system and relaunch the game. These steps should help you address the issue in which Silent Hill Townfall is not launching.
