A massive GTA 5 source code leak has surfaced online and early findings are revealing far more than a few unfinished missions. The archive is reportedly around 192 GB and includes development builds, cut GTA Online material, a cancelled Liberty City expansion and what appear to be some very early GTA 6 assets.
There is an important catch. This does not appear to be a brand-new Rockstar breach. The files are believed to come from the older Rockstar data stolen in 2022, with a much smaller portion of the GTA 5 source code already appearing publicly in 2023.
Rockstar Had Much Bigger Plans for Liberty City
One of the most interesting discoveries so far involves LibertyV, Rockstar’s cancelled plan to bring Liberty City into GTA 5. Data miners examining the files have found development information that can be used to outline the area Rockstar was building. Shoreline and audio-zone data suggest the planned Liberty City environment covered a surprisingly large space, potentially extending beyond the playable city seen in GTA 4.
A new Rockstar Games leak has surfaced, with around 200 GB of previously leaked source code files now becoming public:
– Early GTA 6 development assets
– A cancelled GTA 5 Liberty City expansion that may have later been pushed back as potential DLC for GTA 6

That does not mean every part of that area was finished or intended to be fully explorable. Development maps often contain unused space, test areas and assets that never reach production. Still, the files give us a better idea of how ambitious the cancelled expansion may have been.
Other findings reportedly include material from the abandoned Agent Trevor story DLC, early dialogue, unfinished vehicles, developer menus and cut GTA Online content. The existence of cancelled GTA 5 story expansions is not completely new, but this much larger archive is giving dataminers a closer look at how far some of those ideas actually progressed.
Early GTA 6 Material Is in the Leak Too
Naturally, GTA 6 is getting most of the attention. The archive reportedly contains files referring to locations such as Florida and the Everglades, along with very early 3D assets that appear connected to GTA 6 development. Some may have been created inside GTA 5’s technology while Rockstar was still blocking out ideas for the next game.
A new GTA leak happened where assets of the GTA VI map where found, they’re very old assets, stemming from 2023, with what i’ve gathered, shoutout to the mapping discord pic.twitter.com/oEKmI6EJLL

That makes them interesting from a development-history point of view, but they should not be confused with the final GTA 6 map. Some researchers believe the files represent early low-detail assets rather than a complete version of Leonida. That would make sense for material created years before the version Rockstar is preparing to release.
There is also no solid evidence here that Rockstar’s current GTA 6 build or final source code has leaked. The overwhelming majority of the archive appears to be GTA 5 development material.
Liberty City in GTA 6 Is Still Just a Theory
The discovery has already restarted speculation that Rockstar could eventually bring Liberty City back as a GTA 6 expansion. That idea is understandable. Rockstar clearly spent time building a Liberty City project before cancelling it, and a much larger version of GTA Online could theoretically reuse old concepts.
A quick recap of the massive 192GB #GTA/Rockstar leak and what it contains.
– GTA VI map assets and other VI files. It's not the full map and it looks like it might just be LOD assets.
– Files from the cut Liberty City DLC for GTA V, which shows us a MUCH larger Liberty City… pic.twitter.com/W37iaIP8Mb— TJGM (@TJGM_) September 18, 2026
But the leak does not confirm that this is happening. The files show what Rockstar considered for GTA 5 years ago. They do not provide an official GTA 6 DLC roadmap, and Rockstar has not announced Liberty City as a post-launch location.
For now, the more interesting story is what the archive reveals about Rockstar’s past plans. A huge Liberty City expansion, story DLC and early GTA 6 experiments were apparently being developed behind the scenes, even if much of that work never reached players.
The nearly 200 GB leak is giving fans a rare look at that development history, but anything connecting those abandoned projects directly to GTA 6’s future should still be treated as speculation.
