L.A. Noire 2 Rumor Resurfaces but the 2030 “Leak” Is Actually From 2023

A L.A. Noire 2 rumour is spreading again, with claims of a San Francisco setting, a Zodiac killer story and a possible 2030 release. However, the source is not a new Rockstar announcement. It is an old anonymous claim that fans are sharing again.

The earliest dated version we could verify is a GTAForums post from December 8, 2023. A user named Shahanshah shared claims attributed to someone on 4chan and asked whether they could be real.

That matters because an old post gaining attention is not the same as fresh evidence. Recent Rockstar discussion has also included a supposed collector’s edition leak, but each claim needs its own source.

What the L.A. Noire 2 Rumour Actually Says

The forum post describes a possible sequel set in San Francisco and built around the Zodiac killer. It also claims the project was at a very early stage and that Rockstar wanted to take facial scanning much further.

Its mention of 2030 is a guess about when the game might arrive. It does not say the story takes place in 2030. There is no confirmed release window, cast or platform list in the material we checked.

Some social posts argue that the source deserves trust because of other GTA 6 claims. We could not independently establish that track record. Repeating that argument would make the rumour sound stronger than the evidence supports.

Likewise, the sequel covers and logos attached to social posts are not proof of an announced game. A convincing image can help a rumour travel without adding anything to its source.

The Detective Work Is the Interesting Part

There is a reason the idea catches attention. Rockstar’s official description of the original centres on detective Cole Phelps, crimes in 1947 Los Angeles and reading people’s faces during questioning.

A different city and case could give that approach a fresh purpose. Yet better faces alone would not make a better mystery. The important question would be whether players get more room to follow clues and decide what to believe.

That is the useful angle here, rather than treating 2030 as a countdown. Fans can want another detective game without accepting every detail of an anonymous post.

It also makes this a different kind of Rockstar talking point from the $399.99 GTA 6 collector’s box. This discussion is about a possible return to an older style of game, not another item to buy.

For now, the evidence we can point to is a dated forum repost and renewed social attention. Neither confirms that Rockstar is making L.A. Noire 2. The idea is worth discussing, but a release date should wait for something more solid. Until then, even an exciting setting is only a claim, not a game players can plan around.
