The GTA 6 Vice City Map is shaping up to be one of Rockstar’s biggest open worlds yet. Vice City is only one part of Leonida, but the scale being reported around the new map suggests players will have far more ground to explore than they did in GTA 5.

Recent preview information has also given fans a better idea of how Rockstar is filling that space. The world is not simply getting bigger for the sake of having a larger map. Rockstar appears to be putting more systems and smaller details into the world so that exploring it feels less predictable.

Vice City itself is inspired by Miami, with locations such as Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Vice City Port and the Tisha-Wocka flea market. Beyond the city, Leonida includes areas such as the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga National Park.

That variety could be one of GTA 6’s biggest strengths. Players will not simply be driving between different versions of the same city streets. The map is being built around beaches, wetlands, smaller communities, rural areas and a much larger urban environment.

Rockstar Is Making the World React to You

This is where the new weapons and NPC details add an interesting angle to the map story. According to recent gameplay-preview information, NPCs in GTA 6 can react differently depending on how Jason or Lucia handles a weapon. Having a long gun stored on your back may not immediately scare everyone, but actually holding it can change how civilians and police react. Some NPCs can even pull concealed weapons and fight back when threatened.

Weapons are also being handled differently from GTA 5. Players can carry two long guns, but only one can be on their back while the other is in their hands. Guns reportedly have more noticeable recoil and weight, while Jason and Lucia can even hand weapons to each other.

These details matter because they could make the huge Vice City map feel more believable. If NPCs react to what players are carrying, a simple trip through a neighborhood could play out differently depending on whether Jason is walking around normally or openly carrying a rifle.

The same idea extends to police encounters. GTA 6 reportedly gives law enforcement more information about crimes, including descriptions, clothing, weapons and getaway vehicles. Police can also respond to witnesses, alarms and other evidence instead of simply appearing because the player crossed an invisible trigger.

That could completely change how players move through Leonida. A massive map is impressive, but a world that remembers what you did inside it can make that size actually matter.

Rockstar still has plenty left to show before GTA 6 launches. For now, the combination of a huge Vice City, varied regions and more reactive NPCs suggests the studio is aiming for something bigger than simply another massive GTA map.
