The GTA 6 PS5 controller pre-order is officially live, giving fans their first chance to buy Sony’s two limited-edition DualSense controllers before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives in November.
Sony is offering Black and White versions for $84.99 in the United States, with both launching on November 19. However, getting one has already become more complicated than simply choosing a color, as heavy demand created long PlayStation Direct queues and stock started disappearing at some retailers.
The Black GTA 6 Controller Is Still the Harder One to Find
Both controllers are inspired by Vice City, but Sony is handling their availability differently. The White Limited Edition represents the brighter side of Vice City with a lighter finish, while the Black version takes inspiration from the city’s nightlife. Both use a color-shifting finish, GTA 6 branding and palm tree details molded into the controller.
The White controller has wider availability and can be sold through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. In the U.S., retailers including Target have listed it, while several UK stores also opened pre-orders during the day.

The Black version is more restricted. In countries where PlayStation Direct operates, Sony is selling it exclusively through its own store, while select retailers can offer it in regions without PlayStation Direct. That limitation quickly became important once pre-orders opened.
UK buyers trying to order directly from PlayStation were faced with lengthy queues, with some reports showing estimated waits of more than an hour. White-controller stock also moved in and out of availability across retailers including Argos, Currys and Very during the day.
Push Square’s live pre-order guide showed both versions at PlayStation Direct while also tracking the White controller through other retailers. Stock was changing quickly enough that a controller appearing unavailable at one point did not always mean it was gone for good.
Scalpers Did Not Take Long to Show Up
The heavy demand also created the other problem PlayStation fans probably expected: scalpers. Reseller listings began appearing shortly after pre-orders opened, with some sellers asking above the normal retail price before the controllers have even launched. Players also shared reports of waiting hours in online queues while resale listings were already appearing elsewhere.
GTA 6 DualSense pre-orders went live today, and PlayStation Direct immediately collapsed, scalpers also didn’t waste any time, with some pre-orders appearing on eBay for as much as €195.

That does not mean scalpers bought all of the available stock. Some buyers reported getting through PlayStation Direct quickly, while others managed to secure controllers after waiting much longer. Still, the combination of limited quantities, long queues and reseller listings shows why fans should be careful about paying inflated prices.
Sony’s official recommended price is $84.99 in the U.S., £74.99 in the UK, €84.99 in Europe and ¥12,480 in Japan. Anyone seeing much higher prices should check official retailers again before turning to a reseller, especially because stock can return as orders are cancelled or additional units become available.
Both Controllers Arrive With GTA 6
Sony first revealed the two controllers during State of Play on September 3 and opened pre-orders exactly one week later. Both are scheduled to launch on November 19, the same day as GTA 6. The timing means players who secure one should receive their new controller right around the start of Jason and Lucia’s story in Leonida.

These are still standard DualSense controllers underneath the special designs. GTA 6 will support features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on PS5, but Sony has not announced any exclusive gameplay feature that requires either limited-edition model. For collectors, the design and limited production are the real attraction.
The bigger question now is how long stock lasts. With some UK retailers already losing White-controller availability and PlayStation Direct facing heavy traffic, anyone planning to buy one may want to keep an eye on official stores rather than wait until reseller prices climb.
