God of War Laufey has a new combat reveal, and Faye’s bow does more than keep enemies at a distance. Santa Monica Studio has shown two ways to fire the Serpent Bow, alongside pre-order details for the PS5 game.
The studio’s September 28 announcement sets pre-orders for September 29, 2026, at 10 a.m. local time. The game launches on February 16, 2027. Unlike the unconfirmed Rockstar sequel story we covered, these details come directly from the developer.
Earlier discussion around Laufey included questions about whether Tyr might return. This update instead gives players something concrete to judge: how Faye handles a fight, and what the different purchase options include.
God of War Laufey Makes the Aim Trigger Matter
Press the aim trigger fully and Faye gets a more precise shot with greater reach. For example, targeting an enemy’s body can disrupt its movement or attacks. She can then follow up at close range.
She can also charge a volley of up to five arrows. Her companion Phranque can send enemies into the air, giving her a chance to follow with those shots.
However, a half press changes the approach. Faye enters a more mobile stance and fires groups of arrows at nearby enemies. She can keep them airborne while switching between attacks.

That is the interesting difference: the bow is part of close-range combat, not just a weapon to use from safety. The official explanation describes different firing modes. It does not say the bow turns into a separate melee weapon, as some social summaries suggest.
Players can choose rapid-fire, explosive and multi-target arrows. Meanwhile, equipping different Serpent Scales changes the bow’s appearance and gives it a perk. Unlockable skills add further options.
What the Pre-Order and Deluxe Bonuses Include
Pre-order bonuses include the Last Wish Armor Set, a Golden Leaves appearance for Phranque and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds Dark Alchemy gear for Faye’s armor, blade, bow scales and Catalyst.
That edition also lists a resource pack, digital mini artbook and soundtrack. However, the blog’s footnote says the marked gear unlocks through story progress. Buying it does not mean every listed item is available from the opening scene.

Physical Standard Edition buyers receive the pre-order extras through a download code. That requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. As with the GTA 6 collector’s box, it is worth checking exactly what each purchase includes.
PlayStation’s official overview places Faye in the Everywhen, an afterlife where she fights to protect Kratos and Atreus. It presents her speed and movement as central to combat.
So the bow reveal makes that idea easier to understand. Rather than stopping the action to aim, Faye can change how she shoots to suit the fight. How smoothly that works in players’ hands remains something to judge in the finished game.
