The Final Fantasy VII Revelation TGS demo is finally in players’ hands, and the biggest talking point is not simply a new combat mechanic. Square Enix has shown a surprising Zack scene that could have major consequences for Cloud’s story.
The special Tokyo Game Show build takes players through part of the Whirlwind Maze, lets them fight with Vincent and Cid, and ends with a battle against Jenova Deathmourner. Cloud is still at the center of the demo, appearing with his familiar Buster Sword while players experiment with Revelation’s new systems.
The Demo Gives Zack a Huge New Moment
After the Jenova Deathmourner battle, the demo moves into a sequence connected to the Nibelheim incident. The scene begins with familiar characters including Cloud, Tifa and Barret, but there is one major difference that immediately caught players’ attention: Zack is there. More importantly, Tifa and Barret appear able to see him.
In the FF7 Revelation TGS2026 demo, after defeating Jenova Deathmourner, there is a scene with Cloud, Tifa, and Barret in THE Nibelheim flashback.
Everything looks the same except this time, Zack is there! 😱

That could be a major change because Zack’s true role in the Nibelheim incident is closely tied to Cloud’s damaged memories. If other members of the party can now see Zack during these events, Revelation may force Cloud to confront the truth in a different way than fans of the original game expect.
Footage from Tokyo Game Show quickly started spreading online, with players focusing heavily on Zack’s appearance and what it could mean for the final chapter. The TGS build has been specially arranged for the event, so the exact sequence of scenes could be different in the finished game. Still, Square Enix choosing to show Zack this clearly suggests he remains an important part of Revelation’s story.
Vincent Is the Big Gameplay Angle
While Zack is driving the story discussion, Vincent Valentine is attracting plenty of attention on the gameplay side. Vincent does not use Cloud’s Buster Sword. His normal fighting style revolves around firearms, allowing him to attack enemies from range without requiring players to manually aim every shot. His biggest mechanic is his transformation.

Holding R1 lets Vincent turn into a beast and fight at close range using claws. He becomes much faster and more aggressive, but remaining transformed raises his Chaos level and gradually lowers his maximum HP.
That creates a risk-and-reward system where players have to decide how long they want to stay in monster form. Cid is playable as well and feels completely different. His combat focuses heavily on aerial spear attacks, while Target Spears can be placed into enemies before stronger abilities are used against them.
The TGS Demo Is Different From the Earlier Media Build
The public Tokyo Game Show demo is also not simply the same build journalists played earlier. Previous previews gave the media more time with the Highwind, world exploration, quests and party customization. The TGS version is much more focused, putting major combat mechanics and story moments into a shorter playable section.

Cloud also gets access to the FITS system during the demo. He begins with the Summoner FITS equipped, allowing him to bring creatures such as Ifrit, Shiva and Titan into battle for a limited time.
That means regular attendees are getting a quick look at Cloud’s new abilities, Vincent and Cid’s combat styles, Jenova Deathmourner and one potentially huge Zack scene in the same session.
Vincent may be the exciting new playable character, but right now the biggest question coming out of Tokyo Game Show is what Zack’s appearance means for Cloud, Tifa and the truth about Nibelheim.
