Bethesda Game Studios released Fallout 76 “The Slasher” update on September 15, 2026. This update was designed to deliver next-generation console upgrades. Players can now run the game at 1440p at 60fps, improving overall stability. The update also adds new crafting and legacy features, including access to a mini-season system. However, as amazing as this update is, it also comes with a few annoying bugs. According to some players, Fallout 76 “The Slasher” brings an issue in which Loot is not loading.
What happened?
Many players reported that this issue cuts across the major platforms, including Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC. After getting the Fallout 76 The Slasher update, players started noticing that bodies and containers display a loading spinner. Normally, these items should display the player’s loot.
The slow-loading loot comes with a couple of side effects for players. Some players reported that it prevents quest items and dead bodies from being registered accordingly. Unfortunately, this registration issue can lead to progression barriers, especially in Atlantic City dailies.
When describing the issue, an Xbox Series X user lamented how “crazy” it is that he can’t loot bodies. He also mentioned that this Fallout 76 Loot loading issue started after the latest update.

Having gone through several reports, we noticed that the issue is caused by a server-side bug. This explains why players on all platforms are experiencing it. PS4 users also reported facing the same issue. A user said: “I played on Ps4 before and after the update, and the same thing occurs. Damn loading wheel.”
Bethesda acknowledges the Fallout 76 Loot loading bug
The good news is that Bethesda is currently aware of the slow-loading loot issue. The game’s developer announced on September 23 that they have plans in place to roll out a stability update on September 29. Hopefully, this update should come with a permanent fix for the Fallout 76 Loot loading bug.
In the meantime, one player suggested a workaround, which many people have now confirmed to be effective. This involves looking away from the body and looking back. Although this workaround works for many players, a few players said it didn’t work for them. A good example is this Redditor, who mentioned that:
“Every single time I look away and look back the box is empty. Maybe that’s just bad luck but it’s 100% so far.”
We’ll continue to monitor Bethesda for new updates regarding the Fallout 76 Loot loading issue. As soon as we find something worth sharing, we’ll let you know.
