You can’t talk about the best role-playing games today without mentioning Diablo IV. Released in 2023 by Blizzard Entertainment, this game comes with multiple playable classes. Some of them include Barbarian, Sorcerer, Rogue, Necromancer, and Spiritborn. Some of these classes have their specific quests; a good example is The Sacred Hunt quest in Spiritborn. Creating a Spiritborn and reaching Level 15 automatically unlocks the quest. However, new reports reveal that The Sacred Hunt quest is currently not working for many players.
So, if the Spiritborn quest is currently not working for you, you need to know that you’re not alone. According to reports, many players are currently stuck at the objective that requires them to “Help Tarka the Emissary open the portal.”
The Problem:
Normally, when players reach “Help Tarka the Emissary open the portal,” Tarka should start opening the fading portal to the Spirit World. Also, the spirit enemies around the areas should start attacking. But this is currently not the case for many people. The affected players noted that the enemies and portal never appear. With the Sacred Hunt quest not working, users are now calling for a quick fix.
One player on the Blizzard Forum said:
“Most if not all Spiritborn players are bugged during The Sacred Hunt mission— “Help Tarka the emissary open the portal”. No mobs spawning / no portal opening after getting to the mission area.”
Another user noted that he saw about 20 Spiritborn characters waiting in the same area and this happens because no one knows how to progress.
How to address the Sacred Hunt quest that’s not working
The good news is that you can always fix this bug and continue playing through the Sacred Hunt mission. To do this, we recommend the following steps:
- Consider leaving the game
- Turn off Cross-Network Play
- Return to the Sacred Hunt quest
- After that, you’ll notice the enemies and the portal will start appearing.
This fix has been tested and confirmed to work by several affected players on the r/diablo4 thread on Reddit. One of the players said: “I checked it out and if you leave the game and uncheck the cross-network play you can do this with no issues once you’ve done the quest/ the portal shows you can re-enable it.”

It’s worth noting that this fix didn’t work almost immediately for some players. Some of them said even after trying the fix, the Sacred Hunt quest still was not working. They had to wait a few hours before the portal and the enemies started to appear.
We’re still waiting for Blizzard Entertainment to acknowledge the issue and provide a permanent fix. As soon as the developer provides the fix, you’ll be the first to know about it.
