007 First Light DLC is on the way for free, and IO Interactive has pointed players toward October 1, 2026. The game’s official account shared the teaser on September 29. However, its message stops short of saying the content will be playable on that date.
The short post says: “A free DLC is just around the bend. Tune in on October 1st.” That confirms the price and the next date for news. It does not name the download or explain what players will get.

Free additions already give returning players plenty to consider, as the latest Witcher 3 upgrade shows. For Bond fans, though, the first question is simpler: is this more story, another challenge, or something else?
What the 007 First Light DLC Teaser Shows
The shared image from the clip shows a road beside grass and trees, with mountains behind them. There is no mission title or list of features in the post. The quiet setting gives fans something to examine without answering the biggest questions.
It is a different kind of preview from a full gameplay trailer. Like Nintendo’s recent footage of Zora’s Domain, it puts the surroundings first. However, a scenic view alone cannot tell us how much playable content it contains.
The replies show that gap. For example, one player asks whether the DLC is for the campaign. Another says they hope it is long. Those are individual reactions, not proof of a story expansion or its length.
Meanwhile, Bond already has a large audience to bring back. IO Interactive announced four million sales on August 20. The game originally launched on May 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It follows a younger Bond through his early MI6 career, with missions that mix action, sneaking and talking past trouble.
The Roadmap Gives Context, Not a Final Answer
IO’s earlier announcement outlined plans for the game’s first year. These included new Tactical Simulation challenges in existing locations, such as Slovakia’s mountains and Vietnam’s resort. It also mentioned weapons, gadget upgrades, cosmetic items and leaderboard challenges.
There were story plans too. IO described new intelligence about Webb Industries and a mission involving MI6 and Pirate King Bawma. However, the September 29 post does not say which part of those plans this free DLC belongs to.
The same earlier update said IO was exploring New Game+, a way to replay the campaign. That wording matters. It was not a promise that New Game+ would arrive with this teaser, and the new post does not connect the two.
So, for anyone planning a return, three details matter: the content itself, its release date and platform availability. A free download can be welcome without being a large expansion. October 1 should tell players more about what kind of return IO has planned.
